Registry

I've been trying to find a bedding set that I like from Wal-Mart. I chose Wal-Mart for my registry because I feel like I can get more of the bigger items for less. I think Target is too expensive with bedding and things that baby won't use for more than 2 or 3 years. Anyway, so I went to our Wal-Mart and I hate all of the bedding sets they have on the shelves. I like more vivid colors and I don't care for pastels as much. I found a couple of sets on the Internet that I love. Do you all think it would be tacky to register for something that people won't be able to get in a store? Or I could just not register for bedding and buy it myself. Either way, I can't get it in a store. It will have to be ordered online. Here are the two sets I like. I'll make a decision on which one soon since I still have a lot of time.

Spring Time

Also, I was wondering what you all would do in this situation. There is a very limited number of travel sets (stroller and infant car seat combo) at our Wal-Mart. I believe there were four at the biggest Wal-Mart. One of them was Pooh and I don't like Pooh at all. There was another that was brown and I didn't like it either. That left two to choose from. One was pink and grey. Very cute and I liked it. It was under $200.00 which meant hopefully I could get it at a baby shower if people went in on it. The other was a teal set that was cute, but over $200.00. It was the most expensive one there. I don't want to be picky about what I get and I don't want to register for the most expensive items because then I'll be less likely to get what I need and I would feel bad about it. So, here's the problem: If I have a boy sometime, I won't want to put a boy in a pink car seat and stroller. Russ said that we would just buy a different one, but that seems impractical to me. But, if we don't do that we will have to register for the more expensive neutral one. What I really want to do is get the pink and grey, but it just seems silly if we end up having a boy later. What would you do?

I'm probably thinking about it too hard. I just want to be cost-effecient and not be greedy when it comes to this. Decisions, decisions...

Don't forget Walmart has free ship to store!! So if they order it online they can just pick it up at their local walmart for free! LOL! Just fyi!

Oh and on the stroller thing. You will prob. end up ordering another stroller with another child. Either because you will need a double stroller or because strollers take a big beating after three-four years of use.

I've just finished dealing with registry and returns, yuck. I say go for the neutral one so if you have a boy, he can use it. Walmart was no great about returns. They didn't care that I didn't have a receipt. But our Walmart doesn't have a lot of baby stuff or good inventory. BUT people like to go to Walmart, so I probably should have registered there. You could consider doing a registry at Target for just the things you don't find at Walmart. Target and BRU have horrible return policies. Only a few people gave me the gift receipts. I registered for some things that were not available in store and no one bought them... But maybe if you tell your mom or MIL to ask people to get it?

If my opinion counts I like the Spring time bedding the best. Both are cute though.

I'm not a WalMart shopper, however, I do like looking at the registries online, and will often find things there that I want to order, rather than going in the store.

Good luck!

We just went ahead and bought our own bedding because we felt like the nursery stuff was our responsibility, but I know everyone is different about that. Both sets are really cute! And I know a lot of people that shop online these days, so I bet you might get it, especially if you hinted to certain friends and family about it. People have already asked me what I wanted most off my registry, so I just tell them all different stuff.
As for the travel system, we had a similar debate but ended up going with a more neutral set--just in case. I don't really think you can go wrong either way, though. You cannot plan too far ahead! Some wise book somewhere says that we cannot worry about tomorrow because tomorrow will worry about itself, right? ;)

For the what-if-we-have-a-boy-someday question for the car seat.... Have you considered replacing just the fabric portion of the car seat by asking a sewing friend for some help if you were to want to change colors? Also, Rit dye might come in handy if you wanted to change the color of the fabric too. You would just have to pick a coordinating fabric dye color to go with the hard surfaces of the seat. Wahlah!

Also, I don't think that it is tacky to register online requesting that some items be purchased without being in a store. I am grateful for that situation actually!!! I am not a shopper. The easier that you can make a purchase for me, the better! What can be easier than hitting a few keys?
