Another Day, Another Dr. Visit

Though, this one brought with it exciting news....We're having a GIRL! Seriously, why did I ever put so much into the previous ultrasound? It was only 11 1/2 weeks. I knew when we found out that it wasn't definite since it was so early, but I got used to calling the baby Logan. Now, I'm going to have to get used to calling the baby "she" and whatever we decide to name her. We had a name picked out for a girl, but I'm not so sure anymore. I need to get used to the idea that the baby dwelling inside of my uterus is a girl, not a boy!

The rest of the ultrasound was great! Her little head/brain look good. Her heart rate was 140 which is good. Her stomach measured on track and her spine was perfect as far as we could see. She has long legs for her age. She definitely gets that from me. Russ is tall (6'2), but his torso is long, not his legs.

There was a hint of protein in my urine this morning. The nurse told me to drink more water. I drink 100 oz. a day and she told me to drink at least a gallon...I hadn't drank anything that morning, though so I bet that's why I had traces of protein. There wasn't any sugar, though so that is great news. No gestational diabetes for me please. Thank you!

Baby girl did not want to hold still for my OB to get a good heartbeat today. She was very active during the ultrasound and was even more wound up during the appointment that followed. He kept telling her to hold still, but she wasn't having any of it. I think I would be annoyed, too, if I had already been poked and prodded for an hour. I thought it was hilarious!

Speaking of Russ, he has lost 35 pounds. GO RUSS! I'm gaining weight and he is losing. Oh yea, life is good.

I'm going to go dream about my little girl for a while!

Ahhh, the blue has turned into pink! Congrats on the little girl! I hope you hadn't already purchased lots of blue stuff for the nursery.

This is exactly why my tech at my 12 weeks u/s said that although we saw what looked like "boy parts", not to expect a boy because she still only gives it a 60/40 chance because girl parts at 12 weeks are so swollen they usually look like boy parts too.

I hope you didn't buy clothes and decorate your nursery yet! :)

Congrats on your little GIRL!!! I've had 2 girls and they are so much fun.

How exciting (and uprooting) to find out you are having a girl and not a boy! Congratulations! We had guesses of both genders early on, but didn't put much stock in to until 20 weeks.
I know that either baby would be perfect, but I have to say that shopping for a girl is the most fun I have ever had in my life! It's like shopping for me in tiny proportion!

I'm excited for you!!! Girls are fun. I'm surprised that anyone would even try to tell you the sex at 11 1/2 weeks. Sex organs don't become external until around 15 weeks or so.. Shame on them....
Have fun picking out a name!!

Liz, I keep getting differing opinions on when a baby's genitals form. My infertility tech said that they form externally around 10 to 12 weeks. Then my OB said that they don't form until at least 12 weeks. Now you say 15. I'm so confused! But, I have to say that the first tech never came out and said "it's a boy". He just made sure that we knew that's what his professional opinion was. Shame on me for believing him.

Wow! How exciting! By the way, I can't read the words on the page because the background is white and the words are white... :-)
