Brrrrr!

Well, I posted a poor-me post and then thought better of it and deleted it. It was just about our struggles with finding a job and how that has affected me during the last few months. It hasn't been easy, but didn't really warrant a poor-me post. Instead, I'm going to talk about the weather.

It has been soooooo cold here!!! It started snowing Saturday evening and it didn't stop until Sunday night. We got a few inches of snow and it has been on the ground ever since. The roads aren't too bad so I was able to go get groceries on Monday. Have I mentioned how much I hate the snow? I know I have. And that isn't completely honest. I just hate being cold and I hate having to drive in this weather. I'm always afraid of black ice and of sliding into other cars or houses or buildings in general. I have these awful thoughts of doing just that or sliding into people. I'm crazy!

In other news, we put in our notice on our apartment. We can't afford to live here anymore. If you know of a Church of Christ looking for a minister, send the information our way! We really really really really really need a job now. It's been 9 months and nothing. I didn't think it would be this bad. I know we are in a recession, but people need God and we need a job to feed our family!
I did take the opportunity to get a picture of Chloe Jo in the snow. I set her down, took her picture and hurried her back inside. I didn't want her getting wet or too cold. She just stared at the snow falling when we were on our way to church Sunday morning. I would love to know what she was thinking at that particular moment.
The weather is supposed to get bad again today. I've been watching it out of my window all morning to see when it starts snowing. No ice in the forecast still so I'm counting my blessings!

I read your other post, and this one too, and I've got to say, it's okay to feel down sometimes! Russ will find a new home church when God's time is right. I have to keep reminding myself of this too. I don't like it, but hey, what are you going to do?

I wanted to ask, how does a pastor-to-be network to find a job pastoring? Does the Church of Christ have a website that posts openings for churches across the country? We have a CoC here, but wouldn't know how to go about finding out if they have an opening or not.

Best of luck with the job search. Are you moving into a less expensive apartment?

I didn't realize that your husband was a Church of Christ preacher. My husband grew up in the Church of Christ (I'm baptist) and we just starting going again. Why don't you look into the one in Ocala, FL, that's where he use to go. I know the preacher there retired and I'm not sure if they have a regular one or not now.

Oh my! I totally can relate with your coldness issues. My car said it was 3 degrees when I was driving into work today. We are supposed to get 5-7 inches of snow starting at midnight tonight. I'm so NOT looking forward to it!!! I think we are all human and have "poor me" moments from time to time, you are entitled to yours! I will keep my eyes & ears open about any preaching positions. My brother in law is a "higher up" at monster.com....I will have him keep an eye out too. How far are you guys willing to move? Hey why don't you just email me at cardinalsfan0718@netzero.com....I would love to chat with you anyway!! Thanks! Janet

There are a lot of Churches of Christ here. And it doesn't snow here! Alabama is a far cry from Missouri, though. ;)

I read your other post and thought it was very honest and heartfelt. Blogging can be an outlet, and that's what the post seemed like. I'm sorry that things don't seem to be going perfect right now - but just remember that God's timing is perfect, even if we don't realize it at the time. Keep your head up - and I'll say a prayer for you!
