Show Us Your Life: Mother's Day/Father's Day Ideas

I'm linking up with Kelly over at Kelly's Korner for Show Us Your Life! I don't normally participate in this link-up, but I'm trying to grow my blog a little so that I can have a give-away! My goal is to reach 50 followers!

Today's topic for SUYL is Mother's Day/Father's Day Ideas!

I love this topic because there are so many things that you can do for your Mother or Father that are special and meaningful. I don't do something like that every year, but I try to every once in a while. Here are a few of my favorites!

Stepping Stones
You can buy small boxes of cement at Hobby Lobby (though if you are going to be doing a bunch of these, it is cheaper to buy a huge bag from a construction supply store). I also bought the dragon's eyes at Hobby Lobby. I made three of these last year. Russell got the only one with hands. The other two had feet. Chloe Jo did fairly well with these. Since she was so little, I had to redo a couple of them, but they turned out great in the end! I love having this stone on our front porch!

The next two are necklaces that I am sentimentally attached to. I didn't get them for Mother's Day, but I do think they would make wonderful Mother's Day presents.

This first one is from Hallmark and I bought it for myself right after Chloe Jo was born.
The heart opens up so you can fill it with any of the numerous charms that Hallmark sold to go with it. There were several different styles of this accessory including necklaces (which is what I bought), keychains (My Mom and I bought my sister a keychain when she had her daughter) and bracelets. There were also squares and circles if you didn't want the heart shape.
This last thing is a necklace that I ordered off of Etsy from Hammering Redhead. I took a necklace that was already on there and tweaked the design to something I love.
If I remember correctly, the necklace was originally a sports theme. I just added the crown and heart charms, asked for CJ's birthday to be on one circle and her name on another. The square with the verse was already on the original necklace. I also added our birthstone (2 peridot and 1 diamond) charms. It is my favorite necklace! When it was delivered, I gave it to Russell to give to me for Christmas! HA!
I would love to read some more ideas so go link up!
