This school year has been different because Chloe Jo's teacher rarely gives out homework. Last year, we had homework every Monday through Thursday and we had a reading sheet I had to sign off on for every evening. This year, her new teacher doesn't send anything and we also rarely even get the work that she did at school. It is just very different than it was last year. Not bad, just different. Because of this, I have been lax in reading in the evenings and practicing letters and numbers with Chloe Jo. Because of this, I decided to make a schedule for us to follow.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Last week, Chloe Jo's teacher did include a few things to work on in the weekly newsletter so that is where I started. She encouraged us to create flashcards and make mini-lists of letters to work on every day. We didn't need to create the flashcards because we already had a set.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The first thing we do is go through each letter in the list and Chloe Jo tells me what the letter is and what sound it makes. She is actually pretty efficient in this so we don't have to work on it for very long. Each list has around 5 letters (there are upper and lower case lists). Sometimes we play a game with the list. She especially loves No, No Peeking. I lay out the cards and she covers her eyes. Then we say "No, no peeking. No, no peeking. No, no peekiiinnnnggggg. PEEK!" When she opens her eyes, I have taken a few of the cards. She has to remember which cards I took and tell me the letter and sound. Then I put the cards back and we do it again.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlEWkH1xWk0zhrAnmDCk4UM7JBohJgV2zvqqa3F7dlbPEVEm1YXcWQJxoy3hc9W99v8KdKeSPoGUadV9lr9Udz4Vl1kbhaIDVvLhK3PFQHavI3ced-fEx0LhMhJ4sCF7B4sQJwvc10lP0/s1600/005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlEWkH1xWk0zhrAnmDCk4UM7JBohJgV2zvqqa3F7dlbPEVEm1YXcWQJxoy3hc9W99v8KdKeSPoGUadV9lr9Udz4Vl1kbhaIDVvLhK3PFQHavI3ced-fEx0LhMhJ4sCF7B4sQJwvc10lP0/s1600/005.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Alphabet Mini-Lists</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After the mini-lists, we work on Hooked on Phonics. I have a program for my iPad and it has been great. She loves playing it and it helps her learn to read. Each Hooked on Phonics lesson has 2 songs, around 4 games and a story to read at the end. I am surprised at how fast she picks it up and can read the story. We do one lesson a day. If she struggles with the story, then we repeat the lesson until she can read the story without problem.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Hooked on Phonics</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Within our homework time, we also read books. Sometimes we do it at the beginning. Sometimes we do it at the end. It just depends on what Chloe Jo prefers that day.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The last thing (or sometimes the first) thing we do is the calendar. Our friend, Tia, gave us this calendar and we love it. It is perfect for our needs and Chloe Jo likes it because there are a few extra magnets that she can play with (a bird, worm and apple).</div>
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">This is a Melissa and Doug Calendar</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: center;">
To help keep me accountable, I decided to print out this calendar. I write down which mini-list we need to work on for the week. Then I record which Hooked on Phonics lesson we did and I add an arrow if we get to move on to the next lesson. We also have been working on writing our numbers this week so I have recorded which number we worked on.</div>

Just a few more random things for this post.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I went to the Children's Orchard the other day and came away with a great haul. I was thrilled with the trip! I found Chloe Jo 2 pairs of jeans. One pair is Levi's and the other is Mudd, new with tags. I also found her a rain jacket that doesn't look like it has been worn at all. Then I found her a Juicy sweatshirt, new with tags. The Halloween shirt was a splurge as she didn't need it, but I thought it was too cute. I had a gift card from when I sold them several items and ended up only paying $5 out of pocket! I called the Halloween shirt a splurge because I wouldn't have had to pay anything if I hadn't bought it. I was thrilled especially since 2 of the pieces were new with tags!</div>

We love to participate in all of the activities at school and this week was no different. This was a 4 day week so that is why there are only 4 pictures and not 5.</div>

Chloe Jo is doing much better at morning drop-off. We have gone a few weeks now with no tears. Last week I was able to sub 4 times in her school (for the same class!). She loved getting to go in with me, but it made for a rougher morning today. She didn't cry, but she really wanted me to go to school with her again. I don't have opportunities to sub every day and I didn't get a call this morning. She sat in the back seat and sighed (obnoxiously) all the way to school. *eyeroll*</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I can't believe that Wednesday is the first day of October! Where did this year go?</div>

This week has been crazy busy for my little family!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The church we are members of is having a Gospel Meeting this week and we are housing the visiting minister. It was been a wonderful meeting so far. Tonight is the last night and I am looking forward to getting Chloe Jo back on her regular sleep schedule. Gospel Meeting weeks mean that she goes to bed at least an hour past her bedtime. This usually makes for some not-so-great mornings, but this week she has been a champ. No crying at drop-off all week!!! YAY!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
During the summers, our congregation has a summer series on Wednesday evenings. That means that those of us who teach on those evenings get a break all summer. Breaks are much needed for the 4 of us who are willing to teach because we all teach Sunday morning and Wednesday evening without breaks throughout the year.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I teach the 2 year olds on Sunday morning and the 4 and 5 year olds on Wednesday evening. It just so happened that I basically started new material for both classes at the same time. So far, I am completely thrilled with both curriculums that I chose!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After VBS, my 2 and 3 year old classroom really needed a revamp. We usually keep decorations up for a year and then change out. VBS just happens to be a great time to change out decor since we are redoing the classrooms for that weeks theme anyway.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I don't do the 4 and 5 year old classroom, but I did have full reign over the 2 year old classroom. After searching for ideas, I finally decided to go with a bee theme. I love the way it turned out and, best of all, my little students love it, too!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Oh my!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hi Friends!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My weekend has been pretty great! I have about a million things to do this week, but I wanted to put up a blog post before going to bed.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Russ and I both turned 32 last week! Russ is almost exactly 24 hours older than me and it is so fun to share birthday celebrations with him. Well, I say celebrations, but really we didn't do much for our birthdays this year.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We ended up being very practical with our gifts.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We bought a new kitchen faucet. Our old one had given us problems since the day we moved in. It leaked around the top. It leaked around the bottom. Russ was constantly having to repair it. So this week we finally picked out a new faucet and Russ installed it. We love it! I'm so glad we finally replaced it! I purposely chose a tall one so my stockpot could fit under it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaqZ4fdNC0iPvH2gZenx1c60GwmPnYX2lkFtt_xIyqOghyphenhyphenPmWY7oCC7jHJm9WShg7IvDRTzvXWlCBLfYK9gSQJmPJxNwZJYsqiRYdLTrh0qCFrtdD6fGg6iNTdCsgES42_23fy8aB1XUk/s1600/014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaqZ4fdNC0iPvH2gZenx1c60GwmPnYX2lkFtt_xIyqOghyphenhyphenPmWY7oCC7jHJm9WShg7IvDRTzvXWlCBLfYK9gSQJmPJxNwZJYsqiRYdLTrh0qCFrtdD6fGg6iNTdCsgES42_23fy8aB1XUk/s1600/014.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We also decided to buy a new vacuum. I know, I know...we're living on the birthday edge. Our current vacuum is several years old and losing it's suction. It just really needed to go. I ordered this one from Amazon. It is a Bissell and it had 4 1/2 stars from over 1,500 reviews. I am so excited to get it!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Friday evening, I decided to trim Chloe Jo's hair. It was getting to be a mess. I had been planning on taking her to get it trimmed, but I hate paying $20 for a child's hair cut so I just did it myself. She was so funny afterwards. She kept running her hands through it and telling me that she loves it. It's not perfect, but I'm really not that worried about it since she likes it so much.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
On Saturday morning we just hung out around the house for a while. It was the perfect way to spend my birthday morning. By the way, did I mention that we had to take the back off of Chloe Jo's carseat? Girl child is getting so tall. She was actually big enough (by height and weight) to take the back off in April, but I wanted to keep it on as long as possible. Well, the 3 inches she grew this summer made taking the back off a necessity. She loves just using the booster!</div>

Chloe Jo was sorely disappointed that we did not have any birthday cake so we decided to make cookies. I had 2 chocolate bunnies left over from Easter that hadn't been open. I put them through the food processor and used them as the chocolate chips in the cookies.</div>

We ended up taking some of the cookies to a friend's house that evening.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My parents came down Saturday evening to spend the holiday with us, also. They arrived late so Chloe Jo had to go to bed soon after since we go to Bible class and worship services on Sunday. Sunday evening, our congregation had an ice cream social. Yum! We had 3 flavors of homemade ice cream, a ton of toppings, cookies and brownies. I took more of the chocolate bunny cookies we made on Saturday. My recipe made about 3 dozen so I was trying to get rid of them left and right!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Monday was spent hanging out with family at our house. My sister and her family came over and we let the kiddos play in the pool. My dad, Bro-in-law and Russ did some home repairs. We had found some dry rot on our siding so they had to rip out the siding, some of the board underneath and replace it all. We desperately need to repaint our house, but we just don't have the funds right now. Our plan is to do it in the summer. I'm going to try to do some touch ups around the house this week to hold us over until we can do the whole thing.</div>

While Russ was waiting for caulking to dry so he could paint, he repaired part of our fence. We had a couple of slats that were broken on the bottom. Luckily, the homeowners before us left a nice pile of fence slats in the attic when they moved. Yay for repairs that don't cost anything!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Tomorrow, Chloe Jo goes back to school and I have some shopping I need to get done. I have a few orders for the shop that need to be completed this week. Our 10th anniversary is on Thursday and we are wanting to go to The Melting Pot, but we aren't sure what we are going to do with CJ since my sister and her family are going to be out of town. Then we have a town event to go to on Saturday. I'm kind of tired just thinking about how busy we are going to be over the next few days.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
I don't know what the weather is doing everywhere, but we are in the midst of severe thunderstorm warnings and a few tornado warnings (although our area has only gotten thunder and lightening so far). If you are in the area, be ready to hunker down.</div>

Have a great week, friends!</div>

I have had a busy week. With Chloe Jo starting school and wanting to/needing to get some things done around the house, I feel like I have been going non-stop.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Chloe Jo did great in the drop-off line at school on Wednesday and Thursday. I admit that I bribed her. Wednesday just happened to be the day she finished her 3rd <a href="http://preachmanswife.blogspot.com/2014/08/this-and-that.html">punch card</a> so I told her that if she was really good getting out of the car, I would have a prize waiting for her. She would rather have a toy then the allowance. On Thursday I just told her that she would have a surprise after school (I took her to help me pick out a couple of wind chimes for the house). This helped her be better, but I can't give her a surprise for good behavior every day. She has to learn to just do what needs to be done. Suck it up, Buttercup. This morning was a different story, though. We were back to uncontrollably crying and being crazy. Sigh. At least we had 3 good drop-offs this week.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I cleaned up the garage. I had several things I needed to put in the attic that had just migrated to the garage. I finally got it all up there, organized a few things and swept it out. I love driving into a clean garage.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I also swept the porch off. It looks so much nicer without a bunch of grass, leaves and dead bugs all over it! We never use the front door (unless we have company) so we just don't realize how bad it gets. Out of sight, out of mind and all that.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The biggest project from this week was the yard work. I filled in a few holes from trying to grow trees. Our yard hates trees and kills them all. We have tried to grow 4 different kinds of trees and they have all died. Anyway, so we had some low spots where we had planted and put mulch down. I filled those in since we are destined to be tree-less. I also trimmed up our rose bushes and the big green bush (I have no idea what it is called) on the corner. I then put down new mulch and added flower pinwheels to the are that didn't have plants (because I can't keep anything alive...especially when Russ thinks everything is weeds and pulls it all up). It looks so much better now!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
We started soccer practice last Thursday. Russ and I are coaching this season. Eep! I never played any sports in school and have never been athletic so this is definitely outside of the box for me. We have done 3 practices so far and I have been enjoying coaching. I'm really just assisting, but I love it. I think we have a good team and we are going to have a great season.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Best of all, Chloe Jo has been loving it. She has improved so much from when she started. Maybe she will even score a few goals this year!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Last, I made this bed pocket for Chloe Jo's room. I wanted a place to put her devotional book and her electronics and saw a few of these on Pinterest. I really liked the idea, but wanted to make my own version. I had the grey fabric and quilt batting so all I needed to get was the pink bias tape. I love how it turned out and Chloe Jo thinks it is pretty great, too. I'm loving the quilted look especially. I believe I will do that on more items in the future.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We have a busy weekend planned. Today is Russ' birthday and tomorrow is my birthday. We are having company coming tomorrow and they are going to stay through Monday for the long weekend. Then Russ and I are going to celebrate our 10th anniversary on the 4th. I'm definitely going to get some sleep tonight!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Have a great weekend!</div>

This morning did not go well. For this school year, this was the worst morning so far. I'm just so frustrated. I have to keep perspective, though. Last year, it took Chloe Jo several weeks to be okay in the morning. This morning, as soon as she started boo-hoo-ing, I told her that she needed to suck it up and be a big girl. Then she wouldn't get out of the car. I told her that if I had to park, she would get a spanking. I had to park. I pulled her out of the car and gave her two swats. Mornings like this just ruin my day. I am upset with her for being crazy and I am also worried about her because she was so upset. She just can not handle transition well. I love her so much, but she can be so incredibly frustrating. Parenting is no joke.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This picture was from yesterday morning.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbgbLwDoh6adFF0xLNDxcsM53mFm3Qr4UUGMYtdoiG98lodGIKN_dSeffeQ7TmV1BgRsnknxtasH4s1lDqBY8k8vw_0k7MYJ-N_LCXvZyV_t3swnBAc47pCvGaqGKRJ0P0ZhGpRtn3p7U/s1600/001+-+Copy.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbgbLwDoh6adFF0xLNDxcsM53mFm3Qr4UUGMYtdoiG98lodGIKN_dSeffeQ7TmV1BgRsnknxtasH4s1lDqBY8k8vw_0k7MYJ-N_LCXvZyV_t3swnBAc47pCvGaqGKRJ0P0ZhGpRtn3p7U/s1600/001+-+Copy.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Did you notice the insane bush behind her? We trimmed it down at the beginning of the summer because it was out of control. It was shorter than Chloe Jo after we got finished with it. Apparently, it really liked the trim because it blew up in a matter of weeks and is now up to our roof. We will have to trim it down again soon...like yesterday.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Last Friday evening, we went to my sisters house to visit and I noticed that Brianna's stroller was in bad shape. I took the lining and made a new one for her. When Chloe Jo saw the new lining, she decided she wanted one just like it. There was nothing wrong with the lining in her stroller, but I had the fabric so I went ahead and made one for her, too.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is the before. The lining was fine, but it wasn't the best quality. I think I did fix one of the loops one time after a certain little nephew of mine decided to sit in it (hence the reason my niece's lining was torn up, I'm sure).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And the after. I just used the hardware from the old lining. This one is sure to last!</div>

Yesterday was Chloe Jo's first day of Kindergarten!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My girl is growing up so fast. *Tear*</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Unfortunately, she decided she didn't want to go back to school on Tuesday evening. She made up all kinds of excuses not to go. "I'm shy." "I'll cry." On Wednesday morning she tried throwing a fit and she was very disappointed when none of her antics worked.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Russ and I were allowed to walk her into the building and sit with her in the cafeteria until time to go to her class. She was so nervous. We gave her kisses and hugs and left, but Russ looked back and she was crying a little bit. :( I hope she eventually grows out of the nervousness and shyness.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
G-Jo bought her a backpack this year. Chloe Jo is a little obsessed with the Disney Fairies right now. She loved that her backpack came with a matching lunch box.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwERCjLwZ0QUcS91IGMCc_UhalaUEgK_XlIiZJYzBcRUN1pjnsHQ73it2MW80EHxze_9PTOngm9nkM5A1TS9ugaHODOeHpdglyw2xnVFan633JjH10SH9pzrezDc871iaJfCPaDxb2uHI/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwERCjLwZ0QUcS91IGMCc_UhalaUEgK_XlIiZJYzBcRUN1pjnsHQ73it2MW80EHxze_9PTOngm9nkM5A1TS9ugaHODOeHpdglyw2xnVFan633JjH10SH9pzrezDc871iaJfCPaDxb2uHI/s1600/001.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here she is in her first day of school outfit. I loved making this one for her. I think it is so fun!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFRBWyXfwQRQQAqr8gMSMeoLM5OqI-5SsKgK_Pz28ih9fO9n5rcYc8lCdoUXbqGXNMjP2bQfUU6W1pmzJaJZc74Yxs5gqf393RA1YddG3OAr1G9ynMVFPDbaVZbwnxY0AgnPszGXxwp0Q/s1600/003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFRBWyXfwQRQQAqr8gMSMeoLM5OqI-5SsKgK_Pz28ih9fO9n5rcYc8lCdoUXbqGXNMjP2bQfUU6W1pmzJaJZc74Yxs5gqf393RA1YddG3OAr1G9ynMVFPDbaVZbwnxY0AgnPszGXxwp0Q/s1600/003.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
She thought the survey was great this time. She loved answering all of the questions.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghph6e2MYreuHe6fTqG6mqZr5JPJ0eu8uEcKyEfvt8h5LkwetQEIRE-iY_kt4mB4eR3xWkVwSahNjvQZM4HrLTfM7lM5tYmGU_zjvXvAnyW-Dq1HioeCr4jAedPRsY7FdotIuE6JQ4hyI/s1600/004a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghph6e2MYreuHe6fTqG6mqZr5JPJ0eu8uEcKyEfvt8h5LkwetQEIRE-iY_kt4mB4eR3xWkVwSahNjvQZM4HrLTfM7lM5tYmGU_zjvXvAnyW-Dq1HioeCr4jAedPRsY7FdotIuE6JQ4hyI/s1600/004a.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And for comparison:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is the outfit she wore today.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This morning did not go near as smooth as I wanted it to. I explained to her last night and this morning that she would go in the main doors and go sit in the cafeteria until time to go to her classroom. This is not what she did last year and I knew it might be an issue. She does not adapt well to new things. I went through the car drop-off line and pulled up to the curb. As soon as the teacher opened the door to let her out, Chloe Jo grabbed onto me for dear life and started sobbing. I ended up having to park and walk her to the sidewalk where the principal picked her up to carry her inside. It was heart wrenching to watch my darling so distraught and having to leave her there, but I knew it was the best thing for her. It took her several weeks to get used to going into the school building by herself last year. I am just hoping the transition is a little shorter this year. I would hate for the principal to have to carry her in every day!!!</div>

Today was Chloe Jo Day!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Since she starts school tomorrow, I told her on Monday that Tuesday would be her day. We could do anything she wanted to.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm so glad Chloe Jo is easy to please. She decided that she wanted to eat breakfast at home even though I offered to take her to get a donut. That's my girl, though. After breakfast we got ready and left to go to the park. First, we had to stop for a photo op!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikDQtyefmzAZZ29xYlffIJcsJ44vje3EgMQbCoz_SnKdJW6a0FvQuqHe6loZo0qn4Lrb47D4FRtMh4XyfYMi8Z7tlI2U7XTo4QKPcQ16c3n2cz2cyzbHfglLm7d48pS3aODTYdtDAaVdE/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikDQtyefmzAZZ29xYlffIJcsJ44vje3EgMQbCoz_SnKdJW6a0FvQuqHe6loZo0qn4Lrb47D4FRtMh4XyfYMi8Z7tlI2U7XTo4QKPcQ16c3n2cz2cyzbHfglLm7d48pS3aODTYdtDAaVdE/s1600/001.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We have a fantastic park in a city near us and she wanted to go there. We invited the cousins to come play with us and the kids had a ball. We ended up only staying an hour because it got hot fast. We had stopped at Sonic for drinks beforehand and they were all gone within that hour!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Chloe Jo's next request was to eat at McDonald's. The cousins decided to join us there, too. After we ate, the kids played in the play place for a while. 2 kids from Chloe Jo's grade came in (including her best friend...who is a boy!), there were 2 girls we knew from swim lessons there, and one girl from a class Brianna and Brenson go to on Friday's so the kids all played together and had a great time.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After playing for a while, Chloe Jo wanted to get dessert at Cherry Berry. Yum!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We went over to Target next to check out the toy aisles. After Target we went home to watch a movie. While she watched her movie, I made up some jello for school lunches and made a double batch of strawberry jam. After the movie was over, we read a stack of books and started thinking about supper. She had chosen to have spaghetti and cornbread (her favorite) for her day.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We finished the day off with a walk around our neighborhood.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm so glad Chloe Jo is easy to please and that she had so much fun today. Plus, I would be lying if I didn't admit that packing the day so full was also to help her sleep tonight. She was in bed at 7:30 and asleep by 8:15 (my goal was to be in bed by 8:00 and asleep by 9:00).</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I know the sweet dear is nervous about her first day of school tomorrow, but at least she will be well rested!</div>

Meet the Teacher night was tonight so we got to go up to the school to find Chloe Jo's classroom, meet her teacher and to drop off her school supplies.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here she is looking all cute in some of her school clothes.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhE5Y39_2FiGbrild1QqPKh5GAvMmcWlXZgmdIaSC1oAl4qfT_QJKMfuTrbZAk8QwOSQ6nqRpabXogDnJWIenQ5i9qyVxPdXjdLntaojGUGP3lAtzepF8ve73h9HjcPIBQUi5-3czicflo/s1600/002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhE5Y39_2FiGbrild1QqPKh5GAvMmcWlXZgmdIaSC1oAl4qfT_QJKMfuTrbZAk8QwOSQ6nqRpabXogDnJWIenQ5i9qyVxPdXjdLntaojGUGP3lAtzepF8ve73h9HjcPIBQUi5-3czicflo/s1600/002.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The school did a huge rearrange of grades and teachers and Chloe Jo ended up being in the exact same classroom as last year! She thought that was pretty great. She was very nervous before going in her classroom and this development helped her to not be so nervous. But, the poor girl had hives (a trait she, unfortunately, got from me).</div>

I had met her teacher a couple of times last year when I was subbing at the school and didn't think she was particularly the nicest person, but I think she was just busy when I met her because she was great tonight. Plus, we went to see Chloe Jo's Pre-K teacher to say "hi" and she said her new teacher is wonderful. All my inhibitions were gone from that point because I very much trust her Pre-K teacher and I know she wouldn't say anything if she didn't actually believe it.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Unfortunately, neither of Chloe Jo's best friends from last year are in her class this year. She was disappointed about that, but I know she will make new friends and it will be fine. Plus, she can always play with her friends from last year at recess!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Tomorrow is Chloe Jo Day. She gets to decide how we are going to spend the last day of summer. I can't believe she starts Kindergarten on Wednesday!</div>

Whoa, Nellie! Chloe Jo starts school on Wednesday! WEDNESDAY! How can that be possible?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I started new Bible class material for my 2 year old's on Sunday morning. I am loving it! The kids seem to be enjoying it and learning and I am very excited to be using the material. One of my friends is the creator of the material and you can find it <a href="http://www.teachmethebiblecurriculum.com/">here</a>. It is not completed for the whole Bible yet, but there are 2 quarters done.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now, I just need to decide what to do with my 4's and 5's when we start Wednesday evening Bible class again. We do a summer series during June, July and August so we all meet in the auditorium. It is a nice rest from teaching. I think I am going to join forces with another teacher, but I am wanting to start the New Testament and she can continue on the Old. We shall see if she likes that idea.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Last week, we took a Zoo trip with the cousins. That was one of the things Chloe Jo said she wanted to do this summer so we had to get it in before school starts back. The morning we went, it was drizzling so there weren't many people out. We practically had the zoo to ourselves for a few hours. The animals were very active and they were giving us a show! One of the monkeys played with the kids for a little bit, kissed the glass and then turned around and kicked it when he was done. It was hilarious!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The meerkats were so funny! We watched them for several minutes. One of the nice things about having the zoo to ourselves was that we didn't have to keep a hold of the children's hands the whole time. They were able to walk around and explore on their own since there were no crowds to get lost in.</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Also, many of the zookeepers were out and they stopped to talk to us about the animals and answer any questions we had. It really was a fantastic zoo trip for us!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
I couldn't just pick one penguin picture. These two little guys played with the kids and kept getting their attention when they weren't looking at them!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
A couple evenings ago, I made tortillas for taco night. I love to try new recipes and I had been wanting to try this for a while.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizna3jVDbmar6xUoPD3KxgRrr6H1aJ7NDBIGmUzPse7SiHLQZRu9xAPrCm0Sv_E-VzErMMAdTvB-aW-EfsmARfqxuxdtZrZnN_j6fxFFlUXclJV_Fua8nTFaBAdqGCjZIOw9M3oimpHf8/s1600/002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizna3jVDbmar6xUoPD3KxgRrr6H1aJ7NDBIGmUzPse7SiHLQZRu9xAPrCm0Sv_E-VzErMMAdTvB-aW-EfsmARfqxuxdtZrZnN_j6fxFFlUXclJV_Fua8nTFaBAdqGCjZIOw9M3oimpHf8/s1600/002.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Yum. They turned out pretty good for a first attempt. I do have to say, though, making tortillas is an art form. The first few of mine weren't that great. I had to adjust the heat several times and I had to take them off the griddle at exactly the right moment when they were done, but not crispy. An art form, I tell ya.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We decided to start giving Chloe Jo and allowance. She likes to ask for things and tell us that we "need to get" so, in order to curb that, we decided to let her earn her own money to get what she would like. At first, I based it on whether she was good that week or not. Being good includes doing chores, not whining about it, and doing what she is asked to do. We gave her just a few new chores to go with her new allowance. We decided to have her make her own bed, take all the little trashes to the big trashcan in the kitchen and sort her own laundry. The first couple of weeks, didn't turn out so go because I was trying to enforce no whining. If she whined, she lost out on that weeks allowance. This didn't work for us for several reasons. One being that she doesn't yet have a good concept of what a week is so it seemed like forever between allowances to her. Second, if she whined on Monday, it could take two weeks for her to get another allowance. So, we changed it up. I found <a href="http://whattheteacherwants.blogspot.com/2011/07/whats-bee-havior-buzzzz.html">this</a> free printable and decided to give that a try.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKVNn6MY5oUfHECQtuczclhhPrlg155E2NPjFYjuIy_ZaXOppMPkPD5FH4fQ9uZ8sUxTIXGs8Tjq6zeOBuA26Do1gPGUm-yyAQc_Iz9sVXQlI6xaMaBaBX-YJHhF656JZiEaHtBxN6ot4/s1600/004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKVNn6MY5oUfHECQtuczclhhPrlg155E2NPjFYjuIy_ZaXOppMPkPD5FH4fQ9uZ8sUxTIXGs8Tjq6zeOBuA26Do1gPGUm-yyAQc_Iz9sVXQlI6xaMaBaBX-YJHhF656JZiEaHtBxN6ot4/s1600/004.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I know the word "behavior" makes it sound like we are having behavior problems with her, but that isn't it at all. It just says that because that is what the printable has on it. Anyway, this has worked much better for us. I try to give 1 to 3 punches every day. This way, she can see her progression towards the allowance and it is achievable every week or so. I have loved this and plan to continue doing the allowance this way for the forseeable future.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Next week I am going to do a post on some of the recent items I have added to my <a href="https://www.facebook.com/LisasLittleLovelies">shop</a>.</div>

We have been trying to make the most of the last couple of weeks of summer vacation. I'm not looking forward to loosing my little sidekick once school starts.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One thing Chloe Jo wanted to do was to have a tea party. I got into the attic on Saturday and brought down the box with the tea set we used for her 4th birthday tea party. She didn't remember the set so it was like getting to open something new for her!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Before we could get to the party, though, we decided to make a snack to go along with it. Friday evening, we were watched Julia Child make Irish Soda Bread and we decided we wanted to try it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Isn't it amusing when a seemingly insignificant item begins to symbolize something much more significant?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For me, that item comes in the form of a little white dress from Mexico.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZeKbyUx_rJS1TsYc54Ncn_7LMCibc7BluwZ7PvEFNTL_hVpAWA2ioyPgEqmd9JZTGqRu-hQzY3NtSh2b2SKSZSF2Wxo1rVxqyvZCGmzYzX6JrjO7RNWziCX-v7Z2cW_rJP0xn6hB5HVI/s1600/021.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZeKbyUx_rJS1TsYc54Ncn_7LMCibc7BluwZ7PvEFNTL_hVpAWA2ioyPgEqmd9JZTGqRu-hQzY3NtSh2b2SKSZSF2Wxo1rVxqyvZCGmzYzX6JrjO7RNWziCX-v7Z2cW_rJP0xn6hB5HVI/s1600/021.JPG" height="326" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This little dress symbolizes a journey. A journey that can almost define a large portion of my married life.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The story of the little dress begins nearly three decades ago.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have an aunt (my mother's sister) and uncle that have lived in southern New Mexico for as long as I can remember. When I was a little girl my family lived in Kansas City so we didn't get to see my aunt and uncle very often. One summer, we loaded up our big, blue van and drove the fifteen-ish hours to visit them. I don't really remember much about this particular vacation, but I do vaguely remember crossing the border into Mexico. We shopped and Mom bought a large bottle of vanilla. We ate tacos (which I vividly remember were not nice to me and gave birth to my nickname, Stinkpot). I don't remember if each of us kids (there are four of us in my family) got to pick out a souvenir, but I assume that is what transpired. At the time I was less than ten years old and was in the height of my doll playing days. I spied a booth with several small, beautiful dresses hanging around it. I loved looking at the dresses and chose a white one with black and pink embroidery. My innocent little girl mind thought the dress would be perfect for my Cabbage Patch Kids back at home.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjw7NPSnuxdeaJPYyNW_H67HGoyxd-YLThW74QFzARAXOzGluCvlgVc4QWiFDiPq3Rtl0S189ColYGx-gwPKMDhjokjlBAihDjKDzmlOmhkwjTiYpG8gQpPFiBQBcaUaJS9kXDGspI6k2w/s1600/022.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjw7NPSnuxdeaJPYyNW_H67HGoyxd-YLThW74QFzARAXOzGluCvlgVc4QWiFDiPq3Rtl0S189ColYGx-gwPKMDhjokjlBAihDjKDzmlOmhkwjTiYpG8gQpPFiBQBcaUaJS9kXDGspI6k2w/s1600/022.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The dress ended up being quite a bit bigger than my dolls, but I dressed them up in it anyway. I didn't care. That dress was a treasure to me and I loved it.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Eventually I grew out of playing with dolls. My Dad built my sister and I hope chests and the little white dress went into the hope chest to be saved for a little girl who took her time in coming.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I kept that little white dress in the hope chest for the next decade and a half. When I was twenty-two, I married my husband and the hope chest and little white dress were moved to a small townhouse in the middle of the city we started our married life in. Every time I opened the hope chest, I saw the little white dress and hoped that one day I would have a little girl to put the dress on.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We started hoping for a little one just a few months after we got married. We waited and hoped and, still, the little white dress stayed safely tucked away in my hope chest.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Two years later that hope chest and little white dress were moved four hours away into a little apartment. Finally, five years later, our sweet little girl joined our family and the little white dress emerged from the hope chest.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I had to wait a while before my little girl was big enough for the little white dress, but the moment was magical when it finally happened.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now days, the little white dress resides in a chest of dress up clothes. My girl loves to put it on and play in it, so much so that I had to repair a duo of busted seams just yesterday. As I was sewing on the dress, all of these memories came crashing down on me. The little white dress has become a lifetime of hopes and dreams finally fulfilled.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

We have been enjoying our summer. I love having Chloe Jo home and don't even really want to think about taking her to school again. I so miss my little sidekick when she is in school. But, that being said, I also know that preschool was great for her and public school is the right decision for our family. We have done several fun things this summer including getting a first bike and taking swim lessons.</div>

<br />
This is the last entry for my Ukraine journals!!!<br />
<br />
4-7-1998<br />
<br />
Chelle and I went to the Sony store before class. She got a Beatles Love Songs cd. I love buying cd's over here. They are really cheap. Then we had class after we got home. Dad went to the S's after class. Chelle and Marmie stayed in the flat and I went to watch a movie at R's. We watched Three Men and A Little Lady. I've seen that movie many times but I still like it. I went home and J came over to "barter" with Dad. He brought this candy to trade. It looked like gravel and tasted like a decayed rat! It was awful. I have never in my life seen Dad spit something out but that candy sure didn't stay in his mouth. J and R are crazy about the stuff but I don't see how they even stand it.<br />
<br />
4-8-1998<br />
<br />
We met Shawna at the bizaar. We got some eggs to color for the holiday. Then we went to the market and Shawna bought some Winnie the Pooh egg covers. R came over to dye eggs with us. Most of the eggs cracked but we used them anyway. The Winnie the Pooh covers were adorable and the other eggs were neat. I made a Star Trek egg that turned out really good. I took a picture of it so I hope it turns out ok. R made a Looney Toones egg that was really neat. There were four towels all on top of each other to protect the table but the eggs were so hot that the made white spots on it anyway. It was really bad but it was also very hilarious. We went to Garmatna for services tonight. We got out of the metro and R, J, and I stopped at a kiosk. Well when we walked up the stairs there was a bus there. We took off running but didn't make it. So us three had to walk. It was fun though.<br />
<br />
<i>I'm kind of sad this is over. It has been so fun reading through these journals and remembering the days we were in Ukraine. I wish I could go back and experience it as an adult. I was so unimpressed with everything back then. Sigh. Teenagers.</i><br />

<br />
4-5-1998<br />
<br />
We went to Garmatna today. Before that we went to McDonald's for lunch. Jeremy and Shawna met us and R there. Chelley has tonsilitis. We walked all the way from the metro to Garmatna and I had to take off my coat and walk in my t-shirt because it was so hot. We have had pretty nice weather this past week. After services R and I went to Gedro Park. We rode a spinny ride first and then the cages. We were watching these girls do them and they couldn't even get halfway up. We decided that if their pants weren't so tight they might have been able to move. We got it over about the 6th time. We were on it for about 10 minutes and it just drained my strength. I collapsed on R and I have some nasty bruises from that. :-)<br />
<br />
4-6-1998<br />
<br />
Marmie, Chelle, D , R, and Shawna and I all went souvenir shopping. We went to a bunch of places but I didn't buy anything until St. Andrews Street. We ate lunch at McDonals and then went to St. Andrews. I bought a ring and earring set for myself and a necklace to go with them. Then I got a bunch of other stuff for friends and teachers. Then D, Shawna, Marmie, and I went to the bizaar while R and Chelle went to Deskemeer. When we got home Jeremy was there. He had gotten sick and just came there instead of going home. Shawna made us pizza for supper.<br />

<br />
We met Shawna today and ate at McDonalds and then went to the bizaar. Chelle and I didn't stay at the bizaar though. We went home and I started on my homework finally. I got one lesson done in science and one in history. So I only have 2 in science and three in history to go. I thought I made a good dent in the homework situation. We are studying World War 2 in history. That is on of my favorite subjects so I was happy that it was interesting. R and D came over to play games later that night. It was really fun. We played grouch and Phase 10.<br />
<br />
4-4-1998<br />
<br />
We had a Ladies Day for Left Bank/Darnitza at our flat today. Helen brought three girls and 1 other girl was there. We all had class together. There were Helen and Shawna that taught. Then there were girls named Julia, Tonya, Dasha, and Kate. R was also there. We learned some really cute songs and taught some others to the Ukranian girls. They were all about 12-13 years old. After the Ladies Day we all went to the C's for games and snacks...the Ns at least. It was a great night. We played Family Fued: Kids against adults. Then we all sang a bunch of songs together. It's great singing in only one language and not hearing the Russian.<br />

<br />
K1's birthday is today. She is 36 years old. The babies still haven't come. R, J, Chelley, and I all went skiing again. This time we dragged Shawna along instead of D like on Monday. I stopped a lot better today. I fell a lot still but did better than I did on Monday. My skiis were messed up bad. The boots kept coming undone and the skis fell off a lot. It was bad but fun. I fell really bad and hurt both of my knees but that was toward the end of the day so it wasn't like I quit at the beginning. It was so fun anyway. We went home for about two hours and then left for church services. D, R, Marmie, and Chelle all went early to stop at K2's and so I went with J. We walked from the metro to the building.<br />
<br />
*<i>Looking back through these, it seems that J and I did quite a few things together. Hm.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
4-2-1998<br />
<br />
This morning we went to the bazarr. Marmie bought a bunch of bus tickets and some other stuff. Chelle and Dad went somewhere to get his picture taken for the Bible School. I went with Jeremy to their flat to get some hamburger and he bought me some Kinder Surprise Eggs. I love those eggs. They are so good. We then sang Farmer Joe all the way back to our flat. We sang at our flat to and annoyed Chelle to death. It was quite fun. Jeremy and Shawna stayed there while Chelle and I went to R's to watch "That Thing You Do". I love that movie. It is really good.<br />

<br />
Chelley and I went snow skiing today. I had so much fun and I have the bruises to prove it. We had to wait about 15 minutes there until it opened. So R and I were sledding for that 15. I have never been snow skiing so this was an adventure. I stopped while standing twice only. All the other times I fell. We had bought McDonalds before we went and ate it at noon. The C's went also. I never went to the very top of the hill because of how steep it was. I didn't use the pull rope either. It was faster to walk for me and I didn't like how much the rope jerked. Skiing is so fun! I hope to go again before we leave.<br />
<br />
3-31-1998<br />
<br />
We had class today. Before class we worked on our Job papers. We all went to the S's for dinner. We took stuff to make up. We had chicken spagehtti and fruit salad. Marmie also made cinnamon rolls for dessert. K1 ate them all. Ha Ha. K2 is huge! I hope she has the twins before we leave. I want pictures of them in the bibs I made. I hope the bibs look cute. They still don't know what the twins are. At first they though they were both girls but now are not sure. Oh well. I played with the kids all night. We went and saved the Princess. We all dressed up and had a good ol' time. S was a doctor. A was Superman. C was a cowgirl and I was a Hollywood Movie Star. LOL.<br />

<br />
We threw K2 a baby shower today. It was quite rude of K1 to bring her in 2 hours late. I was very not happy. Then he tried to blame it all on her. The nerve! I finished the 2nd baby bid yesterday night. I was relieved to get that out of the way. They both turned out so cute. K2 really liked them. K2 was very pleased about the whole thing. It didn't seem to bother any of the Ukranians at the shower that K1 was so late getting K2 there. They don't value time like we do though.<br />
<br />
*<i>It is true that the Ukrainian culture is not so concerned with punctuality (or it was true at that time). I think I could have worded that nicer. Also, I do not remember the circumstances behind the Ss being late so who knows what really happened.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
3-29-1998<br />
<br />
Chelley and I went to Darnitza alone. Mom and Dad went to Garmatna. K1 wanted us to "encourage" the girls at Darnitza/Left Bank. We also met Pasha today. He's really nice. Alex is really cute for being a Ukrainian. A little scrawny but ok besides. Anyway, we were waiting for Julia to come back from the bathroom and all of the sudden K1 starts calling us "Lousy Girls"! We didn't talk to Julia fast enough for him. He is such a PIG! When we got back to our apartment we had the C's over for dinner. Mom cooked a huge meal that was so good! We had Chicken Spagetti. Then for dessert there were fresh-baked cinnamon rolls. After eating we all played fictionary. It was a riot. Then we all wrote C.<br />
<br />
*<i>C was in the state at college during this trip.</i><br />

3-26-1998<br />
<br />
We had to get up early today to get ready for another class. 4 hours is just a little to long of a class in my book. Jeremy and Shawna were here for lunch. One thing I am sure of is that Jeremy hasn't lost his appetite. :) Chelle went with them to spend the night there. YEAH! So I invited R to spend the night here. We gave each other quizzes out of our zines and then we stayed up and talked. We also were being silly. We went down to the kiosk at the end of our street and bought a bunch of junk to snack on all night. Then we gave each other makeovers and took pictures of ourselves. It was a riot! We stayed up till about 1:30.<br />
<br />
3-27-1998<br />
<br />
We went to the Eunice bizzarre today. It's the biggest one in the city. We got a whole bunch of diapers for K2 and the twins. K2 sent a list for us and it was quite long. We had to get two cars coming back and it was hard to get two at the same time. Shawna stayed and ate lunch with us. Then Shawna, Marmie <i>(my mother), </i>and I all went to Deskemeer to buy Shane some PEZ dispensers. Then we went to the Ss to eat there. Marmie took food and we cooked it and everything. We met Shawna today at the hotel and she exchanged some money. Then we all went to the bizzarre together. After we ate at McDonalds we had a class at the flat. Sasha Z is the only student so Father made us take his class. It's 4 hours long and I about fell asleep. Then we went to the Cs to play games with the girls. R and J went to play basketball. We played Grouch. That game is a riot with D. We always have so much fun when we are at the Cs.<br />
<br />
*<i>Apparently I was mad at Dad on this day. I can tell because I called him "Father".</i><br />

I went with D and R to go see a snow skiing place. We went to Crashadek metro stop and switched lines there. Then we walked about 2 miles to see it. It was a very crude place. There was only one hill and the ski lodge was more like a shack. Hopefully we will go skiing next week. After that I went with R snow sledding. We went to Darnitsia and sledded there. I finally found my roll-up sled that I left last year. I was very happy about that. We went to Garmantna tonight.<br />

We went to Left Bank today. R and J went with us. Their pews are all three seats wide so R, I, and J sat together. I got to see a lot of people that I haven't seen since the second trip. It was pretty nice. The first 2 hours were in Russian so I didn't understand anything. I hate that! I wish we could just have a universal language so everyone could communicate with everyone else. That probably wouldn't work anyway. Well at least the actual class was in English. Dad taught that and Arteome translated for him. K2 is huge! It was like she grew in the 2 days we hadn't seen her. It was really funny looking. Maria came up to J when the break was on and started saying how glad she is to see him and all this junk. Since I was sitting beside his she started talking to me also. Then she asked us when we were going to get "together". Apparently other people see straight through me. I just wish those feelings aren't one sided only... I got the first cross stitch bib for K2 done. It is so cute! Now I have 5 days to get the other one done.... I hope I can do it.<br />
<br />
*<i>K2 was pregnant with twins at the time so she very well could have grown in 2 days. Also, I just wanted to clarify that J is happily married as am I. My sister thinks it is inappropriate for me to post things like that when he is not the one I'm married to. I post it because it is what I wrote.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>

<br />
I worked on the cross-stitch for K2 until 4:45. J came by to pick me up. We went to McDonalds and then we took all the food we got to the S's and we babysat for K1 and K2. R was there as usual. She spends so much time with those brats. I couldn't stand them like she does. Anyway, J played the computer most of the night while I watched TV and R played with the kdis. A was banned from the computer half way through the night because he went "number 2" in his pants. So for the rest of the night he screamed and threw a huge tantrum. Then we all went home together. R and J and I made complete fools of ourselves walking home. We were all singing and being rowdy. It was a riot.<br />
<br />
*<i>Ugh. I so wish I had not written all of that stuff about the children. It is kind of a wonder I wanted children at all since I apparently hated them. :(</i><br />

Please don't be deceived by my title for this post.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I like to photoshop my pictures and I like most photoshopped pictures.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I like to brighten my pictures and that is about how far my photoshopping goes, but I do like family portraits with sparkling eyes and blurred backgrounds.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
I'm not totally against photoshopping.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am against photoshopping something in to something it isn't.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For example:<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgp-KKzBBwpQyLGQPuRS7Ob-807eWFZzBIBZcD6n6G44tYHy6lKlB_n5ZgV8kclLnQbksGP4RCqog6MYKLSAbnnPnD1d3ysMx7HDFf7Kftlkv3HZTRnWOCOyQGCzXGiskK8yZ4zXunLmsk/s1600/2d8e8f91cfba4b4b4c9a82f569f99bc3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgp-KKzBBwpQyLGQPuRS7Ob-807eWFZzBIBZcD6n6G44tYHy6lKlB_n5ZgV8kclLnQbksGP4RCqog6MYKLSAbnnPnD1d3ysMx7HDFf7Kftlkv3HZTRnWOCOyQGCzXGiskK8yZ4zXunLmsk/s400/2d8e8f91cfba4b4b4c9a82f569f99bc3.jpg" width="280" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Pinned from <a href="http://www.raininghotcoupons.com/hot-pink-barbie-drink-alcoholic-and-non-alcoholic-version/">here</a></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Doesn't this drink look amazeballs??? Chloe Jo <i>loves</i> the color pink...and hot pink is even better. Not to mention the fact that it is called a "Barbie Drink." I knew I had to make this for her.<br />
<br />
The results? Not so amazeballs.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidosdUIQWj1ywcH4X-rSLFF7oEq0ChM59WDx_o37rjQloufrRMi4x-cccJVkWW0xUxu8GO6VunIRyZtw1ROJzk5ItRoysKcAcoY8DCLPX21JF64l0yVLIiB4OVYzDsAknbfevXKCYzsg4/s1600/001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidosdUIQWj1ywcH4X-rSLFF7oEq0ChM59WDx_o37rjQloufrRMi4x-cccJVkWW0xUxu8GO6VunIRyZtw1ROJzk5ItRoysKcAcoY8DCLPX21JF64l0yVLIiB4OVYzDsAknbfevXKCYzsg4/s400/001.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<script src="//assets.pinterest.com/js/pinit.js" type="text/javascript"></script>Seriously? I made this drink (the non-alcoholic version) 3 times. I measured 3 times. While it is yummy...it is <i>sooooo</i> not hot pink...or really even pink at all. More of a dull orange. <i>So very disappointing.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
I commented on the <a href="http://www.raininghotcoupons.com/hot-pink-barbie-drink-alcoholic-and-non-alcoholic-version/">post</a> this recipe came from and didn't get a reply even though the site has several new posts from today up.<br />
<br />
I hate it when people change something to look like something else and then advertise it as such. It is extremely irritating and, quite frankly, rude.<br />
<br />
Looking back, I admit I shouldn't have been duped by this pin. There really is no way the colors of the ingredients would make a hot pink drink. As somewhat of an artist, I should have known this.<br />
<br />
It is still frustrating.<br />
<br />
I don't understand why people make things in to something they are not. It's okay that the drink is a dull orange. It really is. It is a yummy drink, just not a yummy, hot pink drink.<br />
<br />
So please, stop the misuse of photoshop for a better, truer picture.<br />

Marmie and I went with Shawna to Deskemeer today. It's a huge department store...huge for here at least. It's so different from how it was last year. We went to three floors of it and they were all stocked and full of merchandise. It is just so different. This country is getting up there with the big dogs now. Ha Ha. We went to K2's to play games. J and D walked with Marmie and I and Chelle. We played Phase 10 for a while but since it is so long we all decided to quit. Then D, Weaga, and J all started playing mind games where we had to figure out what they were doing. It was quite boring until Chelle and I decided to play the "What is it" game. They all were stumped until finally J figured it out. I worked on K2's present also today.<br />
<br />
3-21-1998<br />
<br />
Started out as a good day. I guess it ended ok also. R came over to make plans with me but that didn't work out. Shawna came to eat lunch with us. Dad was in a really bad mood. He is so irratable lately. Must be stress. I read or worked on that cross-stitch all day until about 4:00. We all went to McDonalds together and ate. I hate McDonalds. It wasn't even good here. I was hoping it would be really good because I am craving pizza....American pizza and I thought maybe that would be ok. Apparently not. Jeremy and Shawna then took Chelle and I to the Garmantna building to watch a movie. We watched Overboard. It was pretty good for having Goldie Hawn in it. When we were going up the escalator this guy asked Chelley for directions. Well she just looked at him like an idiot and he realized she was a foreigner. Then he asked where she is from in English. She said that she would rather not say. He then said "Is it a secret" and she said yes. Then he asked if we were spies. It was hilarious. We set him strait though.<br />
